Chantal Ughi Actress
Chantal Ughi is an Italian-American actress, filmmaker and seven-time Muay Thai World Champion raised beteen Italy, France and the United States. She began her acting career in European cinema in the 1990s, appearing in films such as Traveling Companion, Growing Artichokes in Mimongo, Albania Blues and Abbiamo Solo Fatto l’Amore, working with directors including Giuseppe Piccioni, Peter Del Monte and Citto Maselli.
After completing an intensive Shakespeare program at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London, she moved to New York where she starred in the independent feature Big Apple and began developing her own work as a filmmaker. Her short film My Right Hand won Best Short Film at the Brooklyn International Film Festival.
While living in New York, Ughi discovered Muay Thai and eventually put her acting career on hold to pursue the sport professionally. She moved to Thailand and went on to become a seven-time Muay Thai World Champion, competing internationally and later becoming a certified instructor.
Her extraordinary journey from actress to professional fighter became the subject of the award-winning documentary Ciao Amore Vado a Combattere (Goodbye Darling, I’m Off to Fight) directed by Simone Manetti, in which she appears as herself. The film premiered at festivals including Biografilm and received multiple awards and nominations.
After returning to acting, Ughi appeared in international productions including The Impossible and Ridley Scott’s All the Money in the World. Her recent work includes I Wanted Our Summer, the drama El Plebeyo, and the feature film Napoli – New York directed by Gabriele Salvatores, as well as roles in independent films and television projects.
Fluent in Italian, English and French, Ughi works internationally between Europe and the United States as an actress, filmmaker and martial artist, bringing a rare combination of physical authenticity and emotional intensity to her performances.
